Pray with us....
The First B4L Bakery In Uganda - 2016
It’s hard to believe that Bread for Life Ministries was born five years ago in our tiny two-bedroom home. The vision was simple: bake yummy bread, raise awareness at local churches, and use all the donations from our bread sales to meet the urgent needs of the most vulnerable children in Uganda.
Can you believe that in just a few years the Lord has been pleased to use this ministry to raise over $150,000, lead several mission trips to this great country, and to meet countless urgent needs on the ground! Although you may not have physically traveled with us, everything Bread for Life has ever done is because of your support and prayers. For example, through your donations we recently purchased two plots of land, which will be used for a nursery school and a boy’s home. These two structures alone will serve over 250 children. We have also rescued over a dozen boys from the slums of Kampala and have sent them to a top-ranked private school called African Hearts. We have drilled a well, provided for medical needs, supported feeding programs, and have come alongside several families in the adoption process – helping provide forever-homes for Ugandan orphans. Together, we have done so many things that I simply cannot list them all! While all of this has been extremely exciting, we believe that Bread for Life is entering into a new and focused season of ministry. This is what we want to tell you about.
We have been praying for specific vision in this upcoming year. Our answer undoubtedly came when one of the ministry’s we love and serve asked us to build a bakery and to teach their young women how to make bread. We are in awe that God is calling this little orphan-loving, bread-baking ministry to go beyond fundraising in our communities and to facilitate lasting change in the lives of the people we have come to love and cherish in Uganda (Someone pinch me, please!)
So in a nutshell our goal this summer is to build a bakery at African Hearts School! We have done countless hours of research and firmly believe that doing this will meet three urgent needs. First, it will allow girls to provide income for their families by teaching them a trade. Second, it will give starving children desperately needed nutrition. Finally, it will encourage an economic infrastructure, as all our ingredients will come from crops grown on land owned by African Hearts. So not only will we be building a bakery, but also we will be growing our own ingredients like beans, corn, grains, and nuts to create a protein-rich flour base. We will also incorporate fruits and veggies like pumpkin, zucchini, and bananas. We are excited-beyond-
belief to partner with our brothers and sisters in Uganda in this way!
In order to bring this dream to reality, we really need your help. Our goal is to raise a minimum of $20,000 by the end of June in order to get this project off the ground and fully funded for the first year. Your donations will go towards the following critical items: (1) a large brick oven for baking, (2) farming equipment, (3) a staff of bakers [preferably older, Godly women to train and mentor the younger girls], (4) an industrial milling machine for our grains, (5) ongoing firewood, and (6) all the additional ingredients. Not to mention - mixing bowls, spoons, storage bins, oven supplies…you name it, we will need it!
If you would please pray about partnering with us in this endeavor, we would be eternally grateful. We know God has always had His hand on this ministry and we believe He has wonderful plans for us all in this new season. We are so excited!
As always, 100% of your donation is tax deductible and 100% of your donation will be used for this project. Please see insert for ways to donate.
Again, this ministry exists because of YOU! Thank you for your ongoing love and faithful support. Let’s continue to move mountains together!
